Thursday, April 10, 2025, freshmen and sophomores at LCHS will be taking the PSAT exam. Freshmen and sophomores are expected to be in attendance. Students are also expected to have their fully charged iPads with them. Testing groups are posted in the commons area and upstairs beside Ms. Hatfield's office. Data from this exam will be used to guide our instruction next school year and could impact students interested in advanced courses. All other students, juniors, and seniors will be learning virtually from home. Teachers will communicate expectations to students regarding assignments. Parents/guardians, if your child is learning virtually, we ask that you check with him/her regarding assignments and expectations.

Shawnee State University Math Scholarship Competition
On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, juniors at LCHS will be taking the SAT School Day. Testing juniors are students who have earned enough credits to be classified as a junior in WVEIS. Students should know their testing rooms, if not, lists are posted in the commons area and upstairs beside Ms. Hatfield’s office. Juniors are expected to be in attendance. Please make sure to bring iPads.

LCHS will host a FAFSA completion workshop on Tuesday, March 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 in the Media Center Computer Lab. Completing the FAFSA is the first step in determining eligibility for federal and state financial aid to pay for post-secondary education and training.

FAFSA WORKSHOP!!!! On Friday, February 28, WV GEAR UP Regional Director Mallory Carpenter and an additional GEAR UP staff member will be at LCHS to assist seniors in completing the FAFSA, PROMISE and WV Invests grant applications, and opt in to the Text 4 Success initiative. Students completing these 21st Century Scholars milestones will receive a cord to wear at graduation.

The 24-25 Southern Scholarship is available for students planning to attend Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in the fall. Stop by the counselor's office for an application.

ATTENTION SENIORS! The WV Promise Scholarship APPLICATION DEADLINE is March 1st, 2025. You MUST complete the FAFSA and PROMISE APPLICATION by March 1st, 2025, to be considered. You can still qualify with the SAT until June 2025 and the ACT until July 2025.

We get lots of questions about the scholarships available to our LCHS students. Not all of our students go to 4-year colleges and there are scholarships available for CTC's that pay for CERTIFICATIONS and ASSOCIATE'S DEGREES!
